Submission Guidelines

So you'd like to submit an event for inclusion in the calendar? Excellent. Here are some pointers to make things easier for everyone:

• Please e-mail your submissions to calendar@freesklyarov.org. This is an alias that's guaranteed to go to whoever's in charge of the calendar at the time.
• Please include, at minimum, the following items in your message:
  • Date. Preferably day-of-week as well as day-of-month, so I don't have to go leafing through my calendar and get confused, as I've already done once.
  • Time. Please include your time zone if you can, since this page is viewed by folks around the world.
  • Details. This need be nothing more than the title or nature of your event, although you're welcome to be as descriptive as you like. If there's a web page with further information about the event, please give me its URL, so I can link to it.
  • Location. This could be the name of a building, or an intersection, but the more detail you can provide here, the better.

    If you have links to maps, directions, transit information, parking information, or anything else that will make it easier for folks to find you, please include them. Remember, you're trying to make it as easy as possible for the maximum number of like-minded individuals to find you. The more precise your information, the larger a turnout your event is likely to reap.

    Please don't assume that your humble calendar maintainer is omniscient. While he can probably, given nothing more than a building name, track down map information leading to a location somewhere close to your intended gathering point, it's much better if you eliminate all opportunities for guesswork and error on his part by spelling it out.

    Also, bear in mind, when planning, Don Marti's admonition that it's good to assemble protests a block or two from your intended target, and then march there en masse. Much more effective psychologically.

  • Contact Information. This should be the name of the person who's the principal point of contact for the event. The named individual should be willing to take phone calls from the press. If you're sending more than one name, please include some description of each person's role.
